Submitted Oct 09, 2004 to Scientific Data Welcome to the Genesis Mission data website. Genesis was a solar-wind sample return mission that collected ions on large-area ultrapure substrates between November 30, 2001, and April 1, 2004 at the L1 point. The solar-wind ions embedded themselves in the top 100 nm of ultrapure substrates that were returned to Earth by capsule September 8, 2004. A key aspect of the mission was to collect separate samples of different types of solar wind--interstream, coronal hole, and coronal mass ejection. To distinguish these types in real time the spacecraft is equipped with a Genesis Electron Monitor (GEM) and a Genesis Ion Monitor (GIM). This website exists to provide you with the GIM & GEM data set. In addition to L1 data, the Monitors collected data during the outbound phase of the mission, from August 24 to mid-November, 2001, and during the return phase, between April 1 and August 4, 2004, during which Genesis flew by the Earth and out to the L2 point.

Submitted Oct 07, 2004 to Scientific Data The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) was born as a statistical agency in 1992. The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) of 1991 established BTS for data collection, analysis, and reporting and to ensure the most cost-effective use of transportation-monitoring resources. BTS brings a greater degree of coordination, comparability, and quality standards to transportation data, and to fill important gaps.

Submitted Oct 05, 2004 to Scientific Data The National Space Science Data Center (NSSDC) provides multidiscipline data and information services, including a large digital data archive from past NASA space science missions along with directories, catalogs, and access to widely distributed science data resources. The NSSDC is responsible for the long term archiving and preservation of all space science data. The NSSDC works closely in federation with the other Office of Space Science (OSS) sponsored discipline data centers. This federation is responsible for providing a coherent and coordinated OSS-wide data environment to improve quality, accessibility, and usability of NASAs space data holdings for scientists, educators, and the general public.

Submitted Oct 05, 2004 to Scientific Data GENESIS (Global Environmental & Earth Science Information System) is a suite of data services that bring together the Earth science products generated by spaceborne Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers flying on several international missions. GENESIS provides a database for GPS occultation observations from the CHAMP and SAC-C spacecraft, which carry NASA-supplied GPS receivers designed for atmospheric and ionospheric sounding. The flight database is augmented with GPS ground data and a variety of higher level derived products. We hope soon that occultation data from the GRACE mission can be added to this unique archive.

Submitted Oct 04, 2004 to Scientific Data GRACE, twin satellites launched in March 2002, are making detailed measurements of Earth's gravity field which will lead to discoveries about gravity and Earth's natural systems. These discoveries could have far-reaching benefits to society and the world's population.
