Submitted Jul 04, 2010 to Scientific Data PubChem, a component of the National Institutes of Health Molecular Libraries Roadmap Initiative, is a database of the biological activities of small molecules. PubChem also provides a fast chemical structure similarity search tool. Links from PubChem's chemical structure records to other Entrez databases provide information on biological properties. These include links to PubMed scientific literature and NCBI's protein 3D structure resource. Links to PubChem's bioassay database present the results of biological screening. Links to depositor web sites provide further information. A PubChem FTP site, Download Facility, Power User Gateway(PUG), Standardization Service, Score Matrix Service, Structure Clustering, and Deposition Gateway are also available.

Submitted Jun 28, 2010 to Scientific Data AmphibiaWeb, a site inspired by global amphibian declines, is an online system that allows free access to information on amphibian biology and conservation. This site was inspired by the global declines of amphibians, the study of which has been hindered by the lack of multidisplinary studies and a lack of coordination in monitoring, in field studies, and in lab studies. We hope AmphibiaWeb will encourage a shared vision for the study of global amphibian declines and the conservation of remaining amphibians. AmphibiaWeb currently (Jun 30, 2006) contains 6035 species, for which we have approximately 1265 species accounts, 1173 distribution maps, 3453 literature references, 141 sound files, and 7599 photos of 1731 different amphibian species. AmphibiaWeb has been created in conjunction with the Digital Library Project at the University of California, Berkeley, which hosts this Web site and developed the technology used for viewing species information and photos.

It is a collaborative project between academia, industry and government that aims to characterize the stress patterns and to understand the stress sources.

Submitted Jan 05, 2010 (Edited Jan 05, 2010) to Scientific Data PAGER (Prompt Assessment of Global Earthquakes for Response) is an automated system to rapidly assess the number of people, cities, and regions exposed to severe shaking by an earthquake, and to inform emergency responders, government agencies, and the media to the scope of the potential disaster. PAGER monitors the U. S. Geological Survey's near-real-time detections of domestic and global earthquakes and automatically identifies events that are of societal importance, well in advance of ground-truth or news accounts.

Submitted Dec 18, 2009 to Scientific Data The GLIMS Glacier Database, hosted by the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado is designed to be a logical extension of the World Glacier Inventory (WGI) of the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) and stores the full complement of the WGMS-defined glacier characteristics. The GLIMS MapServer web site allows users to view and query several thematic layers, including glacier outlines, ASTER footprints, GLIMS Regional Center locations, and the World Glacier Inventory. Query results can be downloaded into a number of GIS-compatible formats, including ESRI Shapefiles, MapInfo tables, and Geographic Mark-up Language (GML). The web site allows users to perform a variety functions on the data including attribute querying, selecting, and exporting the glacial data through the use of a visual selection map and/or a form-based selection process

The WorkBench allows biologists to search many popular protein and nucleic acid sequence databases. Database searching is integrated with access to a wide variety of analysis and modeling tools, all within a point and click interface that eliminates file format compatibility problems.

The in-house datasets include Atlantic Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT), Global Lagrangian Drifting Buoy, Hurricane Flight Level, and Atlantic Hurricane Tracks (North Atlantic Best Track and Synoptic). Submitted Dec 05, 2009 to Scientific Data Heliophysics (HP) research seeks to determine and model the nature and dynamical interactions of the Sun, the heliosphere, and the plasma environments of the planets based on data from a fleet of spacecraft termed the "Heliophysics Great Observatory" (HGO). (See the NASA Science Plan 2007, and the Heliophysics Roadmap.) Achieving the desired understanding requires easy access to data and tools from a distributed set of active archives, each of which has its own architecture and formats: together these data and tools form the core of the Heliophysics Data Environment (HPDE).

Submitted Nov 25, 2009 (Edited Dec 04, 2016) to Scientific Data World Ocean Atlas 2005 (WOA05) is a set of objectively analyzed (1° grid) climatological fields of in situ temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, Apparent Oxygen Utilization (AOU), percent oxygen saturation, phosphate, silicate, and nitrate at standard depth levels for annual, seasonal, and monthly compositing periods for the World Ocean. It also includes associated statistical fields of observed oceanographic profile data interpolated to standard depth levels on both 1° and 5° grids.

Supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation, DataONE will ensure the preservation and access to multi-scale, multi-discipline, and multi-national science data. DataONE will transcend domain boundaries and make biological data available from the genome to the ecosystem; make environmental data available from atmospheric, ecological, hydrological, and oceanographic sources; provide secure and long-term preservation and access; and engage scientists, land-managers, policy makers, students, educators, and the public through logical access and intuitive visualizations. Most importantly, DataONE is not an end but a means to serve a broader range of science domains both directly and through the interoperability with the DataONE distributed network.

Submitted Sep 13, 2009 to Scientific Data Dryad is a repository of data underlying scientific publications, with an initial focus on evolution, ecology, and related fields. Dryad will allow future investigators to validate published findings, explore new analysis methodologies, repurpose the data for research questions unanticipated by the original authors, and perform synthetic studies such as formal meta-analyses. Dryad is developed by the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center and the UNC Metadata Research Center in collaboration with several Partner Organizations.
