Marine Geology Research Scientist Wellington, New Zealand

NIWA is New Zealands leading provider of atmospheric and marine science. We are seeking someone with good knowledge in marine geology to plan and conduct research projects related to the geological processes and mechanisms that affect the New Zealand continental margin and deep ocean floor. The successful appointee will have broad expertise in the analysis and interpretation of stratigraphic and geophysical data pertinent to active continental margins, will be adaptable to new challenges and willing to acquire new skills and expertise. You will have the capability to lead research and consultancy projects in the marine environment around the coasts and oceans of New Zealand and possibly Antarctica. Well-developed oral and written communication skills are essential as is a PhD in earth sciences or related field. We encourage applications from recent graduates as well as established scientists.
