Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data The Earth Observing System Data and Information System is a key core capability in NASA’s Earth Science Data Systems Program. It provides end-to-end capabilities for managing NASA’s Earth science data from various sources—satellites, aircraft, field measurements, and various other programs.
NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) comprises a series of satellites, a science component and a data system which is called the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS). EOSDIS distributes thousands of Earth system science data products and associated services for interdisciplinary studies. Almost all data in EOSDIS are held on-line and accessed via ftp and http. |
Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data Archived and distributed through the ORNL DAAC, the Daymet data set provides gridded estimates of daily weather parameters for North America, including daily continuous surfaces of minimum and maximum temperature, precipitation occurrence and amount, humidity, shortwave radiation, snow water equivalent, and day length. The daily time step, 1 km x 1 km spatial resolution, and North American spatial extent of the data set makes it a unique and valuable contribution to scientific, research, and educational communities. The literature shows that Daymet data have been broadly applied to fields including hydrology, terrestrial vegetation growth models, carbon cycle science, and regional to large scale climate change analysis.
Daymet data are available for 1980 through the latest full calendar year and includes the United States, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico . |
Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data The USGS Water Information System provides access to water-resources data collected at approximately 1.5 million sites in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
The USGS investigates the occurrence, quantity, quality, distribution, and movement of surface and underground waters and disseminates the data to the public, State and local governments, public and private utilities, and other Federal agencies involved with managing our water resources. |
Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data The EPA ECOTOXicology knowledgebase (ECOTOX) is a comprehensive, publicly available knowledgebase providing single chemical environmental toxicity data on aquatic life, terrestrial plants and wildlife. Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data CADLink is a database of literature-based evidence—that is, evidence extracted from the scientific literature, typically peer-reviewed publications. It contains information on the cause-effect relationships evaluated in each publication, along with relevant details such as study design, location, and analytical results. This evidence can be used to develop and evaluate the causal pathways included in environmental assessments.

Submitted Dec 16, 2016 to Scientific Data The Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services has been measuring sea level for over 150 years, with tide stations of the National Water Level Observation Network operating on all U.S. coasts. Changes in Mean Sea Level (MSL), either a sea level rise or sea level fall, have been computed at 142 long-term water level stations using a minimum span of 30 years of observations at each location. These measurements have been averaged by month to remove the effect of higher frequency phenomena in order to compute an accurate linear sea level trend. The trend analysis has also been extended to 240 global tide stations using data from the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL). This work is funded in partnership with the NOAA OAR Climate Observation Division.
