The Earth and Environmental Systems Institute (EESI) is one of the leading earth and environmental sciences research institutes in the United States. It is located in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences at Penn State, on the University Park Campus. Dr. Susan L. Brantley, Professor of Geosciences, is the Institute Director. EESI is one of the Penn State Institutes of the Environment (PSIE), the central structure for environmental research, education, and outreach at Penn State.
