The Oceanography Society

The Oceanography Society was founded in 1988 to disseminate knowledge of oceanography and its application through research and education, to promote communication among oceanographers, and to provide a constituency for consensus-building across all the disciplines of the field. To accomplish these goals we: publish Oceanography, a magazine that promotes and chronicles all aspects of ocean science and its applications; hold meetings to disseminate knowledge and promote communication among oceanographers; and
give awards in recognition of distinguished research in and contributions to oceanography. The Oceanography Society is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization incorporated in the District of Columbia.
