Janus Web provides access to ODP's Oracle relational database Janus. The database contains 450 tables of ODP's marine geoscience data that are collected onboard the drillship JOIDES Resolution. The database includes paleontological, lithostratigraphic, chemical, physical, sedimentological, and geophysical data for ocean sediments and hard rocks. Janus has been used to collect data since Leg 171A (January 1997). During the first postcruise (moratorium) year, access to proprietary ODP data is only given to scientists who participated on the cruise. Proprietary data are released to the public one year after the end of each cruise. Non-proprietary data such as ODP & DSDP site information are available to everyone. Data collected prior to Leg 171A are being added to Janus as time permits (see Database Overview for available data).

ODP log data fall into two categories. (1) Conventional logs: electrical, density, porosity, gamma ray, and acoustic (not waveforms) data. (2) Other logs: Formation MicroScanner (FMS), Geologic High Resolution Magnetic Tool (GHMT), and Temperature data. Conventional logs are generally sent via satellite to LDEO-BRG for immediate processing; other data are processed post-cruise. Additional data collected with specialty tools such as the Borehole Televiewer, VSP etc. do not undergo routine processing. Processed conventional logs are available on-line through the ODP Logging Services web site at http://www.ldeo.columbia.edu/BRG. The web site offers a catalog of all the log data available in the LDEO-BRG archive, as well as forms to request data not currently available on-line. Shipboard party members are informed of the availability of the processed conventional data from their leg shortly after the end of the leg.

The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Site Survey Data Bank is the repository of site survey data submitted by Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) proponents in support of Riser, Non-Riser, and Mission Specific drilling proposals. The JOIDES/ODP Site Survey Data Bank is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and participating countries under the management of Joint Oceanographic Institutions Incorporated (JOI, Inc.).

The Acoustic Monitoring Project of the VENTS Program began continuous monitoring of north Pacific Ocean seismicity in August 1991 using the U.S. Navy's SOund Surveillance System (SOSUS) In May, 1996, monitoring was extended to the eastern equatorial Pacific using moored autonomous hydrophones, with the North Atlantic added in March, 1999. The hydroacoustic method allows detection of low-magnitude seismicity and volcanic activity and provides more accurate source locations than land seismic networks. Hydrophone data from the North Eastern Pacific, Eastern Equatorial Pacific, and North Atlantic is available on this page.

ORPHANET aims to improve management and treatment of genetic, auto-immune or infectious rare diseases, rare cancers, or not yet classified rare diseases. ORPHANET offers services adapted to the needs of patients and their families, health professionals and researchers, support groups and industry.

Operated by the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission. The Earth Impact Database is maintained as a not-for-profit source of information to assist the scientific, industrial, government and public communities around the world in furthering our collective knowledge of impact structures on Earth. Welcome to the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL), hosted by the Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory (POL). The PSMSL was established in 1933, and is the global data bank for long term sea level change information from tide gauges.

PetDB is a data management and information system for geochemical and petrological data of igneous and metamorphic rocks from the ocean floor generated at spreading centers (mid-ocean ridges, back-arc basins, young near-axis seamounts, and old oceanic crust). PetDB contains all types of published analytical data measured on rocks, glasses, minerals, and melt inclusions (major and trace element data, stable and radiogenic isotope ratios, noble gas data, etc.). PetDB currently contains more than 700,000 chemical values for more than 30,000 rock samples from all of the Earths oceans.

The Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) is responsible for archiving and distributing data relevant to the physical state of the ocean. Most of the products available at the PO.DAAC were obtained from satellites and are intended for use in oceanographic and interdisciplinary scientific research. Please refer to the on-line data catalog for a listing of available PO.DAAC data products, tools, and services. All PO.DAAC holdings are free of charge to scientists, educators and the community at large. The catalog includes data on ocean surface topography, ocean vector winds, sea surface temperature, atmospheric moisture, brightness temperature, climatology, gravity, heat flux, ice (land/sea), in-situ, multi-parameter, and scatterometer sigma-0.

This database from the Population Reference Bureau contains data on 95 demographic variables for more than 220 countries, 28 world regions and sub-regions, the world as a whole, the United States as a whole, and the U.S. states. (Not all countries have data on all variables.)

Population Index is the primary reference tool to the world's population literature. It presents an annotated bibliography of recently published books, journal articles, working papers, and other materials on population topics. This website provides a searchable and browsable database containing 46,035 abstracts of demographic literature published in Population Index in the period 1986-2000.

Primate Info Net (PIN) is designed to cover the broad field of primatology providing original content and links to resources about nonhuman primates in research, education and conservation.

The RCSB PDB provides a variety of tools and resources for studying the structures of biological macromolecules and their relationships to sequence, function, and disease. The RCSB is a member of the wwPDB whose mission is to ensure that the PDB archive remains an international resource with uniform data. This site offers tools for browsing, searching, and reporting that utilize the data resulting from ongoing efforts to create a more consistent and comprehensive archive.
