Metazome is a database and graphical user interface enabling comparative genomic studies within the Metazoa. As of version 1.1, the database houses eleven sequenced animal genomes and is constantly growing as new genomes become available. Each gene has been annotated with PFAM, KOG, and PANTHER assignments, and publicly available annotations from RefSeq, SwissProt, Ensembl, and JGI are hyper-linked and searchable. For comparative studies, various clustering methods have been applied to construct orthologous groups of genes that represent the modern descendents of ancestral gene sets at key phylogenetic nodes, including the ancestral tetrapod and vertebrate. These clusterings allow easy access to clade specific orthology/paralogy relationships as well as clade specific genes and gene expansions. Position specific profiles will be made available shortly and gene phylogenetic trees are available now for each cluster to enable deeper comparative studies. The website is supported by the DOE Joint Genome Institute and the Center for Integrative Genomics at UC Berkeley.

"Molecules To Go" is a World Wide Web (WWW) Forms interface which facilitates access (browsing, searching and retrieval) to the molecular structure data contained within the Brookhaven Protein Data Bank (PDB). Through the Molecules To Go request FORM, one may request a PDB data file to be returned in one of several different formats.

The MorphoBrowser database and interface is a 3D visualisation and searching tool for mammalian teeth, accessible over the web. It allows the user to browse through the diverse range of tooth morphologies found in mammals, both extinct and extant. While browsing, the three-dimensional shape of the teeth can be viewed from any direction by rotating and scaling the tooth.

The Astrophysics Data System (ADS) is a NASA-funded project which maintains three bibliographic databases containing more than 5.1 million records: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Physics, and ArXiv e-prints. The main body of data in the ADS consists of bibliographic records, which are searchable through our Abstract Service query forms, and full-text scans of much of the astronomical literature which can be browsed though our Browse interface. Integrated in its databases, the ADS provides access and pointers to a wealth of external resources, including electronic articles, data catalogs and archives. We currently have links to over 5.3 million records maintained by our collaborators.

CQUEST stands for "Carbon Query and Evaluation Support Tools". This page provides access to geographic data from NASA Ames Research Center, Ecosystem Science and Technology Branch for carbon sequestration predictions throughout the United States. This Viewer application allows users to display CASA-CQUEST data interactively as a map, customize the view, print image files, and obtain data values in tabular format. Map tools allow users to navigate around an image, zoom in and out, identify features, and perform other advanced query functions.

The NASA GISS Surface Temperature Analysis (GISTEMP) provides a measure of the changing global surface temperature with monthly resolution for the period since 1880, when a reasonably global distribution of meteorological stations was established. Input data for the analysis, collected by many national meteorological services around the world, is the unadjusted data of the Global Historical Climatology Network (Peterson and Vose, 1997) except that the USHCN station records included were replaced by a later corrected version. These data were augmented by SCAR data from Antactic stations. Documentation of our analysis is provided by Hansen et al. (1999), with several modifications described by Hansen et al. (2001). The GISS analysis is updated monthly.

A searchable directory of images, visualizations, and animations of the Earth. The purpose of NASA's Visible Earth is to provide a consistently updated, central point of access to the superset of NASA's Earth science-related images, animations, and data visualizations. These images are considered to be public domain and, as such, are freely available to the interested public-at-large, the media, scientists, and educators for re-use and/or re-publication.

The mission of the NBII digital image library is to develop, grow and provide a digital library of biological, photographic images offering a rich, Web-based resource of high quality images dynamically linked to associated metadata accessible and available to scientists, conservationists, decision makers, educators, students and the general public worldwide. NBII will make available on-line images from it's own collections and from NBII partners, regardless of copyright, but we envision most images being in the public domain. Here you will find a diverse range of images related to nature and the environment. Our current and future collections contain images associated with plant and animal species, scenic landscapes, wildlife management, and biological study/fieldwork. You may browse our broad subject categories or search for specific images using the search feature. Each image's metadata record contains valuable information about the image, i.e. scientific name, description, location, etc.

The National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) is a broad, collaborative program to provide increased access to data and information on the nation's biological resources. The NBII links diverse, high-quality biological databases, information products, and analytical tools maintained by NBII partners and other contributors in government agencies, academic institutions, non-government organizations, and private industry. NBII partners and collaborators also work on new standards, tools, and technologies that make it easier to find, integrate, and apply biological resources information. Resource managers, scientists, educators, and the general public use the NBII to answer a wide range of questions related to the management, use, or conservation of this nation's biological resources. Current biological issues include bird conservation, biodiversity, frogweb: amphibian declines and malformations, invasive species, pollinator declines, and west nile virus.

Established in 1988 as a national resource for molecular biology information, NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease.

The National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) is the world's largest active archive of weather data. NCDC's mission is to manage the Nation's resource of global climatological in-situ and remotely sensed data and information to promote global environmental stewardship; to describe, monitor and assess the climate; and to support efforts to predict changes in the Earth's environment. This effort requires the acquisition, quality control, processing, summarization, dissemination, and preservation of a vast array of climatological data generated by the national and international meteorological services. NCDC's mission is global in nature and provides the U.S. climate representative to the World Meteorological Organization, the World Data Center System, and other international scientific programs. NCDC also operates the World Data Center for Meteorology, Asheville.
