The GMED website displays the results from the first high-density (116,000 SNPs/individual) genome-wide scan of the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) Offspring Cohort. 1320 participants in the FHS Offspring Cohort were genotyped as part of this project. The overall goal of the project has been to identify common genetic variants that contribute to the heritability of medically relevant traits such as body mass index, fasting blood glucose, plasma cholesterol, QT-interval and hypertension among others. The purpose of the GMED (Genomic Medicine Database) website is to rapidly disseminate results from the genome scan and our analysis so that the large number of candidate associations can be tested for replication by other scientists.

Welcome to GeoHive, a site with geopolitical data, statistics on the human population, Earth and more. The main kind of data you can find here is on the population of regions, countries, provinces and cities. Next to that there are some statistics on economic factors like wealth, infrastructure; statistics on natural phenomena; ....... and yet, even more.

The study of geomagnetism is one of the oldest of the geophysical sciences. Since before the publication of William Gilbert's De Magnete in 1600, people have tried to unravel the mysteries of Earth's magnetic field. The National Geophysical Data Center maintains archives of geomagnetic data to further the understanding of Earth magnetism and the Sun-Earth environment. Data at NGDC include surface, ocean, airborne and satellite measurements, as well as models of the main field and its secular change, and models of the Space - Earth environment. Data on Earth's ancient magnetic field are available from archeomagnetic and paleomagnetic measurements. For those interested in learning more about geomagnetism, we have a general information page and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. For students studying about geomagnetism, NGDC hosts some useful computer programs, as mentioned in Introduction to Geomagnetic Fields by W. Campbell (Cambridge University Press, 2nd Ed. 2003).

GEOROC stands for the GEOchemistry of Rocks of the Oceans and Continents. GEOROC is part of EarthChem, a new consortium of geochemical databases consisting of PetDB, NAVDAT and GEOROC. EarthChem serves the international geochemical community with chemical and isotope data of igneous rocks and minerals, together with matadata about samples and analytical procedures. GEOROC currently covers igneous rocks from Convergent Margins, Oceanic Islands and Large Igneous Provinces. GEOROC is being compiled by the database team at the Max-Planck-Institut fr Chemie in Mainz, Germany.

The Global Amphibian Assessment (GAA) is the first-ever comprehensive assessment of the conservation status of the world's 5,743 known species of frogs, toads, salamanders, and caecilians. This website presents results of the assessments, including IUCN Red List threat category, range map, ecology information, and other data for every amphibian species. Search the GAA database for species by name, taxonomy, country, region, habitat type, threat type, or IUCN Red List status.

Our goal is to enable users to locate and obtain access to Earth science data sets and services relevant to the global change and Earth science research. The GCMD database holds more than 15,000 descriptions of Earth science data sets and services covering all aspects of Earth and environmental sciences. One can use the search box or select from the available keywords to search for data and services. We encourage your participation in writing and maintaining the information in our databases and you will find authoring tools to assist you. Subscription services are available to notify you of new entries. The Interoperability Forum is available to discuss content and database issues.

The Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC) provides both historical and current Earth science data, information, and products from satellite, airborne, and surface-based instruments. The GHRC acquires basic data streams and produces derived products from many instruments spread across a variety of instrument platforms. The GHRC is supported by NASA and is the data management and user services arm of the Global Hydrology & Climate Center (GHCC) in Huntsville, Alabama. Space-based lightning observations are obtained from the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS), the Optical Transient Detector (OTD, 1995-2000), and surface validation networks in the continental U.S. and Brazil. Global hydrological parameters such as sea surface temperature, atmospheric water vapor, wind direction, and atmospheric temperature, are derived from several passive microwave instruments aboard the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM), NOAA-15, NOAA-16, and Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) satellites. The GHRC is the host of the Passive Microwave Earth Science Information Partner (PM-ESIP), providing measurement of maximum tropical cyclone wind speeds, global tropospheric and atmospheric temperatures, and observations of tropical rainfall, sea surface temperature, and wind speed. The Convection and Moisture Experiment (CAMEX) archive provides data from the 1998 CAMEX-3 field experiment and has just completed the CAMEX-4 field experiment in Jacksonville Florida (August-September, 2001). CAMEX experiments produce high-resolution spatial and temporal information of hurricane structure, dynamics, and motion.

The Generic Model Organism Database (GMOD) Project is a largely open source project to develop a complete set of software for creating and administering a model organism database. Components of this project include genome visualization and editing tools, literature curation tools, a robust database schema, biological ontology tools, and a set of standard operating procedures.

The Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE) is a practical demonstration of near-real-time, global ocean data assimilation that provides, regular, complete descriptions of the temperature, salinity and velocity structures of the ocean in support of operational oceanography, seasonal-to-decadal climate forecasts and analyses, and oceanographic research. The GODAE Monterey Server, sponsored mainly by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), is intended to be a principal node in the GODAE architecture.

GPW version 2 provides estimates of the population of the world in 1990 and 1995, both population counts (raw counts) and population densities (per square km). National figures have been reconciled to be consistent with United Nations population estimates for those years; unadjusted data are also available. Both images and data are accessible and downloadable.
