The main goals of Eddy Watch are to observe the position and strength of the Loop Current, detect the separation of anticyclonic (warm core) eddies from the Loop, identify and monitor these eddies as they migrate across the northern Gulf of Mexico, and predict the likelihood that an eddy will encounter a particular site within a user-specified time. Reports are issued weekly with daily updates during times of strong current events.

ETDE's mission is: “To provide governments, industry and the research community in the member countries with access to the widest range of information on energy research, science and technology and to increase dissemination of this information to developing countries.” ETDE World Energy Base or ETDEWEB is our Internet tool for disseminating the energy research and technology information that we collect and exchange. It also includes a distributed searching option for one-stop searching of related science sites. ETDE's information can also be found in commercial host products and in some country-specific databases (see details in ETDE's Energy Database). Database users in member countries and many developing countries have access privileges to ETDE's information.

Ensembl is a joint project between EMBL - European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (WTSI) to develop a software system which produces and maintains automatic annotation on selected eukaryotic genomes. Ensembl is primarily funded by the Wellcome Trust. The Ensembl project aims to provide: Accurate, automatic analysis of genome data; Analysis and annotation maintained on the current data; Presentation of the analysis to all via the web; Distribution of the analysis to other bioinformatics laboratories. Ensembl will concentrate on vertebrate genomes, but other groups have adapted the system for use with plant and fungal genomes. Please see Powered by Ensembl for a list of projects that use Ensembl technology.

View federal, state, and local information about environmental conditions and features in an area of your choice. Display facility and chemical-based information from the Envirofacts Warehouse. View information about surface water features and their environmental condition. Display National Priorities List (NPL) sites using the EnviroMapper for Superfund application. Access results from environmental sampling and monitoring in the New York City area in the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001. View information of demographic characteristics using the Environmental Justice Geographic Assessment Tool. Use EnviroMapper for Brownfields to generate maps of areas served by Brownfields Grantees and select Brownfields Properties. This tool combines interactive maps and aerial photography to locate, display and query brownfields grant types and properties addressed by the areas/jurisdictions of city, county, state, and tribe.

A survey conducted by Research Triangle Institute (RTI) under contract with FDA. The access database contains 593 records of private laboratories that test food. It includes the variables needed to support the kinds of analyses FDA expects to undertake-such as location and contact information, economic variables, test capabilities, and Quality Assurance Programs. The FTLD allows users to sort laboratories by location such as state or country, query laboratories owned by one parent company, sort laboratories by capabilities, and sort laboratories that use quality assurance guidelines such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, and determine laboratories associated with a certain geographic area or FDA district.

The data included in the Department of Energy's Fuel Economy Guide are the result of vehicle testing done at the Environmental Protection Agency's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory in Ann Arbor, Michigan and by vehicle manufacturers themselves with oversight by EPA. All of the data files are comma delimited text files for import into database or spreadsheet tables. The 1998, and 1999, are also available as an excel spreadsheet. The data files have been compressed. A utility such as PKUNZIP can be used to decompress the files. Recent editions of the Fuel Economy Guide are provided as Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.

GEO serves as a public repository for a wide range of high-throughput experimental data. These data include single and dual channel microarray-based experiments measuring mRNA, genomic DNA, and protein abundance, as well as non-array techniques such as serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE), and mass spectrometry proteomic data.

GENESIS (Global Environmental & Earth Science Information System) is a suite of data services that bring together the Earth science products generated by spaceborne Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers flying on several international missions. GENESIS provides a database for GPS occultation observations from the CHAMP and SAC-C spacecraft, which carry NASA-supplied GPS receivers designed for atmospheric and ionospheric sounding. The flight database is augmented with GPS ground data and a variety of higher level derived products. We hope soon that occultation data from the GRACE mission can be added to this unique archive.
