The Space Environment Center (SEC) provides real-time monitoring and forecasting of solar and geophysical events, conducts research in solar-terrestrial physics, and develops techniques for forecasting solar and geophysical disturbances. SEC's Space Weather Operations Center is jointly operated by NOAA and the U.S. Air Force and is the national and world warning center for disturbances that can affect people and equipment working in the space environment. SEC provides a wide variety of near-real-time and recent Space Weather data online through its Web and FTP sites.

STRONGMO is part of the NCEER Strong Ground Motion Facility's effort to develop a data base in which strong ground motion data is retrievable over a telecommunications line or a computer network. The tool is still in its experimental stages. Presently the user has the capability to interogate the NCEER Strong Motion Data Base and then retrieve selected strong motion data (both parametric and time-series) via kermit, a communications program developed at Columbia University. The tool also provides the user with the ability to: contact staff at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory via electronic mail; find out the latest status of the NCEER/Lamont Digital Strong-Motion Network; and retrieve raw data retrieved from the Network. The database consists of a comprehensive collection of earthquake, strong motion record, time-series, and recording site parameters. One of the most important features of the database is that it contains the actual time-histories on-line in a consistent format (the AH format developed at Lamont). The Data Base is in a relational format which allows for complex queries on the data. The data itself comes from two different sources; 20 digitally recording accelerographs operated by Lamont and NCEER and over 50 magnetic tapes that were purchased from several strong- motion data archiving agencies, including: the National Geophysical Data Center in Boulder, Colorado; California Division of Mines and Geology; and the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California.

A Collaborative Effort between the California Biodiversity Council and the University of California at Davis Information Center for the Environment. The signatories of the California Biodiversity Council joined forces to gather information on thousands of conservation, mitigation and restoration projects being developed and implemented throughout California. The result, the Natural Resource Project Inventory (NRPI), has become a comprehensive electronic database searchable on the Internet. NRPI is an expansion of previous inventories including 1) the Watershed Projects Inventory (WPI), 2) the California Ecological Restoration Projects Inventory (CERPI), and 3) the California Noxious Weed Control Projects Inventory.

This document provides synopses of frequently used time series of global-change data, particularly records of atmospheric chemistry including carbon dioxide, methane, carbon isotopes, carbon flux, cloud cover, temperature, and ecosystems. Data records are presented in multipage formats, each dealing with a specific site, region, or emissions species. The data records include tables; graphs; discussions of methods for collecting, measuring, and reporting the data; trends in the data, and references to literature providing further information. Trends online is hosted by the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center of the U.S. Department of Energy.

TAO provides real-time data from moored ocean buoys for improved detection, understanding and prediction of El Nino and La Nina. The TAO array (renamed the TAO/TRITON array on 1 January 2000) consists of approximately 70 moorings in the Tropical Pacific Ocean, telemetering oceanographic and meteorological data to shore in real-time via the Argos satellite system. The array is a major component of the El Ni/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) Observing System, the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) and the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS).

The National Center for Health Statistics' Web site is a rich source of information about Americas health. As the Nations principal health statistics agency, we compile statistical information to guide actions and policies to improve the health of our people. We are a unique public resource for health information-a critical element of public health and health policy. Working with partners throughout the health community, we use a variety of approaches to efficiently obtain information from the sources most able to provide information. We collect data from birth and death records, medical records, interview surveys, and through direct physical exams and laboratory testing. NCHS is a key element of our national public health infrastructure, providing important surveillance information that helps identify and address critical health problems. Here at NCHS, information is at the core of our mission and our Web site is a vital part of our effort to make this information work for you. Our site is designed to provide you with quick and easy access to the wide range of information and data available from us. We include an overview of our major data collection activities, present our data findings, and provide information about special activities and initiatives to improve access to--and the quality of--health statistics information. Our Web site has links to additional sources of health information and provides a way for you to query us electronically to obtain answers to your specific questions.

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) Satellite Database is a listing of operational satellites currently in orbit around the Earth. It is available as a downloadable Excel file, which is updated roughly quarterly. Our intent in producing the database is to create a research tool for specialists and non-specialists alike by collecting open-source information on operational satellites and presenting it in a format that can be easily manipulated for research and analysis. The database includes basic information about more than 800 satellites and their orbits, but does not contain the detailed information necessary to locate individual satellites. The UCS Satellite Database is the only free, comprehensive compilation of active satellites in an easy to manipulate, commonly-used database format. Users can find information about a particular satellite; identify sets of satellites having a common characteristic, such as altitude or mission; and sort or aggregate data about the whole population of satellites.

Since 1985, NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory (PMEL) and Atlantic Oceanic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML) have been measuring atmospheric and surface sea water pCO2 on board the NOAA ships Oceanographer, Discoverer, Malcolm Baldrige, Ka'imimoana and Ron Brown. In addition, pCO2 measurements are made on vessels of opportunity ships (VOS) including the Columbus Waikato and Explorer. The methods are described in Wanninkhof and Thoning (1993) and Feely et al (1998). Select an ocean region to access underway pCO2 data
