Best known for his "INVENTIONs" cartoons, which use a string of outlandish tools, people, plants, and steps to accomplish everyday simple tasks in the most complicated way, Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Rube Goldberg's drawings point out that people are often overwhelmed by over complicating their lives. Rube Goldberg's "INVENTIONS" continue to inspire the many local and regional RUBE GOLDBERG MACHINE CONTESTS culminating at the "University National Contest", which is held annually at Purdue University. This National Competition (featuring "winners" from local contests at universities and colleges all over the country) garners growing international and domestic network TV, print, and other media coverage.

Urbanism. What is it? Planners evaluate and define urbanism with diverse criteria: vehicle-miles traveled, density, transit viability, jobs-housing balance, etc. But ultimately urbanism is about life. It's about the vitality and opportunities possible when people live together in neighborhoods, villages, towns and cities. We create visions of pedestrian-friendly, socially-interactive communities by transforming photographs with photo-editing software. The results are photo-realistic visualizations that make development visions palpably real and understandable. We help cities, community groups, non-profit organizations, developers, property owners, and transit agencies effectively communicate possibilities.

The Missile Defense Agency's mission is to develop, test and prepare for deployment a missile defense system. Using complementary interceptors, land-, sea-, air- and space-based sensors, and battle management command and control systems, the planned missile defense system will be able to engage all classes and ranges of ballistic missile threats. Our programmatic strategy is to develop, rigorously test, and continuously evaluate production, deployment and operational alternatives for the ballistic missile defense system. Missile defense systems being developed and tested by MDA are primarily based on hit-to-kill technology. It has been described as hitting a bullet with a bullet - a capability that has been successfully demonstrated in test after test.
