Description: PSC's mission is to: Enable solutions to important problems in Science and Engineering by providing leading-edge computational resources to the national community; Advance computational science, computational techniques and the National Information Infrastructure; Educate researchers in high performance techniques and their utility; and Assist the private sector in exploiting high performance computing for their competitive advantage. The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center is a joint effort of Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh together with Westinghouse Electric Company. Established in 1986, PSC is supported by several federal agencies, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and private industry, and is a leading partner in the TeraGrid, the National Science Foundations cyberinfrastructure program.
