Link: Multimedia Friday: Science in Advertising, Fly on a Space Shuttle [Preview]
Description:
Greenpeace has created a funny spoof just in time for the Winter Olympics with an ad for the Greenhouse Olympics Downhill Skiing competition. Climate may change, but at least we'll still have gravity! (via Inky Circus)
Imagine you're a bug hanging out on one of the external tanks of the Space Shuttle Atlantis as it launches from the Kennedy Space Center reaching 2800 miles per hour at 11 miles above the surface of the Earth. This is what it looks like. This awesome narrated NASA video hosted on Revver covers everything from 5 seconds just before launch until a few minutes after launch before the solid rocket boosters separate from the shuttle.
