Labs21 is a voluntary program dedicated to improving the environmental performance of U.S. laboratories. The primary guiding principle of the Labs21 program is that improving the energy efficiency and environmental performance of a laboratory requires examining the entire facility from a "whole building" perspective. Adopting this perspective allows laboratory owners to improve the efficiency of the entire facility, rather than focusing on specific laboratory components. Labs21 is sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.
