In earlier ages, it was believed that women could not pursue mathematics because their heads were too small, their nervous systems too delicate or their reasoning capacities insufficient. Such an eminent educational theorist as Rousseau believed that women were not qualified for research in abstract areas such as mathematics and science because their brains were unfit. Recent comments from sources ranging from the President of Harvard University to reporters in the Financial Times indicate that these inaccurate, antiquated notions are still with us. Researchers and advocates for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) have not been effectively communicating their findings in ways that allow the public including policy makers, educators and parents to understand and evaluate these findings and, where appropriate, make decisions based on them. FairerScience is committed to changing that. FairerScience is a joint project of the Wellesley Centers for Women and Campbell-Kibler Associates, Inc. It is funded by the National Science Foundation's Research on Gender in Science and Engineering Program and lead by Dr. Susan Bailey, executive director of the Wellesley Centers for Women and Dr. Patricia Campbell, president of Campbell-Kibler Associates, Inc.

Genome Biology serves the biological research community as an international forum for the dissemination, discussion and critical review of information about all areas of biology informed by genomic research. Key objectives are to provide a guide to the rapidly developing resources and technology in genomics and its impact on biological research, to publish large datasets and extensive results that are not readily accommodated in traditional journals, and to help establish new standards and nomenclature for post-genomic biology.

The Genome News Network (GNN) produces a lively and trusted online magazine that covers important developments in genomics research around the world. Our news coverage focuses on stories about genomics and human medicine, as well as the ways in which scientists are using genomics to find biological solutions to energy needs and environmental problems. GNN is published by the J. Craig Venter Institute, in Rockville, Maryland, a not-for-profit institute founded in 2002.

Launched in 1995, Genome Research is an international, monthly, peer-reviewed research journal that focuses on large-scale genomic studies that present novel data of biological significance from all organisms. Among the research considered by the journal are novel reports on gene discovery, comparative genome analyses, proteomics, evolution studies, informatics, genome structure and function, technological innovations and applications, statistical and mathematical methods, cutting-edge genetic and physical mapping and DNA sequencing, and other reports that present data where sequence information is used to address biological concerns.

GeoScienceWorld (GSW) is a nonprofit corporation formed by a group of leading geoscientific organizations for the purpose of making geoscience research and related information easily and economically available via the Internet. GSW is an unprecedented collaboration of six leading earth science societies and one institute. The Founding Organizations: American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG),American Geological Institute (AGI), Geological Society of America (GSA),The Geological Society of London (GSL),Mineralogical Society of America (MSA), Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM), andSociety of Exploration Geophysicists(SEG). These Founders have worked together with other geoscience societies and university presses to develop an electronic research resource that is unprecedented in our field of science. Initially, GeoScienceWorld (GSW) will deliver online the aggregated journal content of the Founding Organizations and of other not-for-profit and independent geoscience publishers. With time, other material such as maps, books, and geoscience digital data will be included or inter-linked. When technically practical, GSW will include non-English publications.
